26th International Conference and Exhibition on Electricity Distribution - CIRED 2021, Geneva (Switzerland) Online. 20-23 September 2021

Summary:

METIS II is a research and development project funded by the European Commission for enhancing the electrical power system modelling capabilities of the METIS platform, a techno-economic simulation tool for electricity, gas and heat in Europe. On top of the available electricity market optimisation module, a detailed model of the transmission and distribution grids of the EU-27+UK+6 (34) countries is provided. This enhances the platform's capability to assess at each network, at country and at entire European level, the impact of the integration of distributed renewable generation and flexibility measures from a technical perspective, in the framework of the European electricity market.

Spanish layman's summary:

Este paper describe la metodología desarrollada para crear redes de distribución y transporte para un conjunto de países de la UE dentro del marco del proyecto METIS II. Esto permite analizar el impacto de la DG y medidas de flexibilidad a nivel país y Europa.

English layman's summary:

This paper describes the methodology developed to create distribution and transmission networks for a set of EU countries within the framework of the METIS II project. This allows to analyze the impact of DG and flexibility measures at country and European level.

Keywords: Power distribution; power system planning; synthetic networks; test systems.
